Head of School Welcome
At Shorne Primary School, our vision to Love, Learn, Live is at the heart of everything we do. Inspired by the Parable of the Good Samaritan, this vision guides us to love others with compassion, to learn through wisdom and experience, and to live with open hearts and minds. It shapes our school culture, curriculum, and community, ensuring that faith and values are not only taught but lived.
While faith plays a central role in our school life, we warmly welcome all, regardless of background or belief, and celebrate the rich diversity of our school community. Our inclusive approach ensures that every child and family feels valued and respected.
Alongside our vision, we hold our Christian values of Resilience, Community, and Respect in the highest regard. We believe in ensuring that every member of our school feels listened to, nurtured, and encouraged to see the positive impact they can have on the world. Our children are at the centre of all we do, and we are committed to giving each one the opportunity to grow into kind, confident, and compassionate individuals, ready to flourish in today’s world.

About Shorne Church of England Primary School
Love, Learn, Live
Welcome to Shorne Church of England Primary School, a one-form entry school set in the heart of the village of Shorne, within the borough of Gravesend, Kent. We are proud to serve a wonderfully diverse community that reflects both rural and urban life, welcoming pupils and families from a range of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. This rich diversity is a gift, shaping a school environment that is inclusive, respectful, and deeply rooted in Christian love.
At the centre of our school life is our theological vision: Love, Learn, Live. Inspired by the words of Jesus in Luke 10:27 – “Love the Lord your God… and love your neighbour as yourself” – and lived out through the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25–37), our vision calls us to love generously, learn deeply, and live with open hearts and minds. We encourage every child not only to grow academically, but also spiritually, emotionally, and socially; learning what it means to be compassionate, responsible, and courageous in today’s world.
Our Christian values of Resilience, Community, and Respect support this vision in everything we do. From the courage of Daniel in the lions’ den (Daniel 6:1–28), to the biblical image of the Church as one body with many members (1 Corinthians 12:14–27), we teach our children that each person is created in God’s image, valued, and called to contribute to the flourishing of all. In our school, everyone is encouraged to persevere, celebrate difference, and show kindness and dignity in all relationships.
While faith plays a central role in school life, we warmly welcome all families, whether of Christian faith, another faith, or none. Our inclusive ethos reflects the love of Christ and creates a safe, nurturing environment for all children to thrive.
We are proud of our close partnership with St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Shorne, where regular collective worship, church services, and community events deepen our connection to the Christian story and the wider parish. As part of the Aletheia Academies Trust, which includes a family of Church of England schools, we benefit from collaboration, shared expertise, and a shared commitment to educational excellence grounded in Christian distinctiveness. We are also supported by the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education, whose guidance helps us stay true to our mission and continually strengthen our spiritual and educational provision.
Beyond the classroom, our pupils are encouraged to put their learning into action, whether through charitable giving, community service, or partnerships with other schools and local organisations. These experiences help pupils embody the message of the Good Samaritan: to see others with compassion and respond with love.
At Shorne, our children are at the heart of all we do. Through our vision to Love, Learn, Live, we aim to nurture kind, confident, and thoughtful individuals, prepared not only to succeed in the world—but to make a positive difference within it.
