Welcome to Hedgehogs Class (Year One)
Year 1 Class Teacher: Miss Carter
Year 1 Class Teaching Assistants: Mrs Warner
Our Learning
Year One is a wonderful year of learning! Throughout the year we focus on independent sentence writing and progress to forming short narratives. We explore many traditional stories to inspire our writing. We study a range of different artists in art and have great fun investigating animals, living things and different materials in science.
In Early Years and Key Stage One we use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised to teach phonics and early reading. We continue to have daily phonics lessons that later in Year Two become spelling, grammar and punctuation lessons. We also continue to use the reading elements of Little Wandle to develop fluency, comprehension and prosody.
More information about our Year One curriculum for individual subjects can be found on our curriculum pages and in our termly Learning Letters, links to which are included below.
Timetable
Our general timetable can be downloaded below. Our timetable is subject to change but gives you an overview of coverage each week.
