“Pupils are enthusiastic about the opportunities that the school provides” – OFSTED 2017

Shorne was pleased to receive a ‘GOOD’ rating from OFSTED after an inspection that took place in October 2017. 

The outcome highlights the quality of Shorne CofE Primary School’s offering: 

  • Pupils are enthusiastic about the opportunities that the school provides
  • Pupils want to work hard and are keen to please their teachers. Pupils are, quite rightly, proud of their school.
  • This is a caring, nurturing school. Pupils behave well in lessons and on the playground.
  • Pupils are adamant that this is a safe school, and that there is always an adult to talk to about any concerns. Pupils know how to keep themselves safe.
  • Current pupils, including disadvantaged pupils, are making good progress in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Pupils told me they enjoyed the topics in the revised curriculum. They said this made learning fun.

“Strong leadership has established a clear Christian vision for the school”. – SIAMS 2018

Shorne was pleased to receive a ‘GOOD’ rating from SIAMS after an inspection that took place on February 2018. 

The outcome highlights the quality of Shorne CofE Primary School’s offering: 

  • Religious education (RE) and the worship programme express well the school’s Christian vision and impact positively on pupils’ good spiritual and moral development.
  • A strong partnership with St Peter and St Paul parish church makes a substantial contribution to the school’s Christian character and to its involvement in village life.
  • Considerate relationships and excellent behaviour express the school’s Christian underpinning well.
  • Strong pastoral systems are in place, including, for example, the targeted use of play therapy.
  • As an expression of its Christian foundation, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development (SMSC) is given a high priority and is responded to very well by pupils.
  • Pupils are developing their confidence in and ability to express their thoughts and beliefs clearly.
