Shorne Pupils Shine at Trust Athletics Tournament

On Tuesday 15 July 2025, a team of talented athletes from Shorne took to the field for the Trust Athletics Championship, joining pupils from 11 other schools in an exciting day of sporting competition.

Held as the final event in the 2024–25 Trust Sports Season, the Championship featured a full programme of track and field events, from sprints and relays to long-distance races, shot put, standing jumps, and the ever-popular Tug of War. The atmosphere was full of encouragement, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Our pupils gave their very best across the day and we’re incredibly proud to share that Parry set a new Trust record in the 100m with a fantastic time of 13.09 seconds, smashing the previous record of 14.96. Ewen also made his mark in the Turbo Javelin, throwing an impressive 20.4m, another new Trust best.

Championship Highlights

Top 3 Schools on the Day:

  • Cliffe Woods & Stone St. Mary’s (joint 1st) – 26 points

  • Sutton-at-Hone – 22 points

While we didn’t finish in the top three overall, Shorne placed 6th in the final Trust Sports Season standings with 45 points, a brilliant achievement and a reflection of consistent effort across all sporting events throughout the year.

We’re proud of every pupil who took part, whether they were running, jumping, throwing, or cheering on their teammates. Thank you to the organisers, staff, and supporters who made the day such a success.

We look forward to building on this momentum in the 2025–26 season!
