The Governing Body is responsible for making sure the school improves each year. It sets the direction and ensures that the school is meeting its targets, while allowing the headteacher and teaching professionals to manage the school on a day-to-day basis.
Governors attend meetings where reports on the school’s progress are discussed. They test information received by asking the right questions to ensure that the school spends its budget wisely against the priorities shown in the school plan.
Governors may be Trust, Staff, Parent or Foundation Governors and are elected and/or nominated to serve. Dr Ian Craig was co-opted as Chair of the Governing Body in November 2016. He was succeeded by Luke Steggles at the beginning of this academic year (Sept 2018), with Keith Syrett as vice chair.
The list of our Governing Body (plus their roles and responsibilities) for 2017-2018 can be accessed below, together with the Governors Annual Report for the year. The list will be updated during October following the result of election of a new parent governor (nominations close on October 8th). We will also be publishing further information – attendance, minutes etc – during Term 2.
