Smudger visits Shorne!

All at Shorne were treated to a visit from Arsenal legend and current voice of FIFA Alan “Smudge” Smith.  Alan was gracious enough to take time out of his busy schedule to come and help Inspiration Week start with a bang.  He talked about life as an elite professional footballer, his career in journalism and how he became the voice of FIFA.

Alan was keen to stress the importance of hard work as, unusually nowadays, Alan completed his A levels and started University before he was signed by Leicester City.  This, he said, helped him in his second career which started when he wrote for the London Evening Standard.

A Q&A session followed, with some insightful questions being posed, including whether he preferred being a footballer or commentator, who was his most respected opponent and what was his favourite goal (Mr Mallinson did not like the answer!).

Alan was a true gent in taking time to answer as many questions as he could.  One could say a real inspiration!
