Foss update – Summer fete 29/06/19

We hope you all have Saturday 29th June in your diaries for this year’s summer fete!  Please share the date with friends and family and if you are on Facebook please like and share the event page as it not only encourages more people to attend but also encourages donations and support from local businesses.

Fete Planning meeting next week

There will be a FOSS fete planning meeting taking place next Wednesday 22 May at 7.30pm in school. With only just over a month to go we need to finalise which stalls to have this year, come up with some new ones, talk about the arena programme and all things fete-related! If you’d like to get involved or can offer some new ideas we’d love to see you there! All very informal.

General help needed

Thank you to the people who have volunteered so far to help. Over the next few weeks we will be asking for volunteers for various things to help make the summer fete happen! Please keep an eye on the Facebook page and Parentmail.  The fete is always a great day, raises some well needed funds for the school and helps us provide some treats from time to time for the children, but we really can’t do it without help. If you already have your eye on running a particular stall on the day or helping with something in the build up please let us know.  To give you an idea, some of the jobs we need help with are:

  • Helping to run one of the many stalls on the day, either for the whole event if you get a few of you together so you can all take turns and enjoy it, or just for a 1 hour 45 min slot if it suits you better (11:30-1:15 or 1:15 -3:30)
  • Running the BBQ on the day – team of 3-4 needed!
  • Having a sponsored estate agents board advertising the fete outside your house for a few weeks in advance of the event – we get £250 if we have 25 houses happy to do this!!
  • Displaying and collecting the large posters and staked signs along Rochester Road and in Shorne in the next week or so.
  • Making or sourcing some new, eye catching large posters for some our key stalls
  • Collecting in the donations of unwanted gifts at drop off on 14 June
  • Collecting in the donations of sweets/bottle at drop off on 21 June
  • Helping to wrap all the raffle hampers in the evening of Monday 24 June at school
  • Folding and counting all the raffle tickets
  • A run to Bookers in Rochester during the week of 24 June to fill your boot with crisps, sweets and other bits and pieces
  • Ordering and collecting sausages and burgers from the butchers
  • Setting up on the field on Friday 28thJune (afternoon)
  • Setting up the gazebos and marquee early morning Saturday 29thJune
  • Dismantling the gazebos and clearing away tables Saturday 29thJune from 3-4.30.

If you can offer any help please let us know at or tell your class rep (see below).

Raffle tickets and prizes

As always, the team are working tirelessly to organise some amazing raffle prizes and items for the secret bid board! If your company or someone you know can donate anything at all, please let us know.  In return we can share links, website details and leaflets!

Raffle tickets will be sent home in book bags during the first week of June. Please do try to sell them to friends, family and neighbours! More books of tickets are always available from the school office.
