Class 2 - Badgers

Welcome to Year 2 ‘Badger Class’

Our teacher is Miss Chantry and our teaching assistant is Mrs Pitcher. The topics we will be learning about this year include ‘Land Ahoy’, ‘Street Detectives’, ‘Wriggle and Crawl’, ‘The Scented Garden’, ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets’ and ‘Beachcombers’. We are all excited about the forthcoming year and want to achieve our very best. We are looking forward to sharing our learning with you all on our class page!

In Year 2, it is important that children read daily at home in order to become confident and fluent readers with excellent comprehension skills. Neat presentation and handwriting are also very important. More information about this and work for Year 2 can be found in the transition letter sent to parents during Term 6 – this can be downloaded below.

Year 2 Parents are invited to a welcome meeting on Monday 18th September at 3.25 in Badger Classroom. Your child will be looked after by staff in school during the meeting.

As part of our ‘Pirates’ topic this term, we are planning to take Year 2 on a trip to Chatham Dockyard. This will take place on Friday 22nd September during normal school hours. The education centre will be providing us with a ‘Pirates and Shipwrecks’ package, where children will go on board a pirate ship, meet pirates and learn about how pirates lived years ago! They will also learn about the life of Grace Darling and participate in making their own skipping rope. Letters have been sent hope –  a copy of which is also available below.
